So Shoemoney has a great little contest going on right now, you can view the details on his blog, or by click his logo right here in this post. His blog is huge and one of the most read and definitely most respected ones in the affiliate marketing world. The contest looked kind of interesting to me, so I figured, why not. I mean he didn’t say you have to be a newbie to win right? I think taking a guy who has a big list and is already successful online would be a nice change of pace for Jeremy, (I can’t remember if I spelled his name right). Anyhow the basic jist is the winner gets the following:
- A platinum pass to Affiliate Summit West.
- 2 nights hotel accommodations paid for at host hotel.
- $500 Airfare Reimbursement.
- $2000 to gamble on 1 hand of blackjack (can you handle the pressure?).
- Roll with me at Affiliate Summit.
- A pass to the Epic Advertising Playboy Mansion Party this fall.
Now I don’t know if I qualify or not, but I didn’t see anything against it, so here goes my entry. (I don’t see why I wouldn’t as I’m nothing special, just another dude who makes a living online.) First I think Jeremy is the real deal, he’s not afraid to speak his mind and he’s been attacked online countless times by countless morons. But instead of that draining him, he spins it into a positive thing. He uses any negative attacks to further his brand which is what a smart guy would do. I really respect him for that. I know him a bit, but have never met him in person. To say I know him means he’s personally repsonded to a couple emails over the past couple years and we ALMOST did a major deal in the past. Anyway, here’s my reasons for them awarding ME the winner of the contest.
- I’ve never been to any Affiliate Summit ever. When I started online I was trying to hide my identity from everyone. I started this site as quietly as I could. I didn’t want anyone to know who I was. Looking back I don’t know why I did that, but I did. Now I’m the opposite.
- It would be cool to just meet Jeremy in person and hang with him a bit. I wouldn’t annoy him with a million questions about making money online, I already know how. So that would save him some headaches if he took a complete newbie! (No offense to newbies btw, you’ve got to ask if you want to know).
- I need to network more with more affiliate marketers. I know it’s a necessary thing to succeed in the affiliate space, but I’ve never done it. I spent my previous life as a financial advisor being forced to network and frankly I didn’t like it. I think I didn’t like it because the other person KNEW I just wanted to manage their portfolio. It felt dirty to me. But now I see the value in just putting faces to names online and developing more connections.
- I love Vegas! I’ve been there twice and loved it both times. It’s just an escape from reality and a fun time. I’m not the party animal I used to be anymore, I’ve got 4 kids and when you do, your Friday and Saturday nights are spent falling asleep on the couch watching T.V. (Mainly from the exhaustion of having 4 kids)
- I have no problem slapping down $2,000 on blackjack. I’d probably be the first one in years to actually lose it, but that’s ok, it would make a good blog post for Shoe and John Chow too.
That’s my five reasons. I haven’t seen any other entries yet, so I encourage nobody else to enter this please! If I won, I think it would be cool to just experience one of these summits for once and who better to have as a go to guy then Jeremy?
