Can You Get An Unbiased Review Anywhere?

The honest answer is no you can’t.  I’m not just referring to my site, I’m refering to any “review” type site out there.  They are not reviewing things because they want to give you a helping hand.  They’re doing for one of two reasons:

  1. They want to sell you on the site they’re reviewing to make a commission on a sale.
  2. They want to sell you on a competitors site so they slam one to make the other look better even if it’s complete b.s

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love it when my affiliates do the first option as it does work and it does sell subscriptions, but when affiliates for other sites take option number two, it gets annoying.  99.99% of the time the person “reviewing” the site they DO NOT want you to join, has never even been a member.  If they have been a member, then they’re a disgruntled ex-member who has a hidden agenda.  I find this happens more and more online, especially in the online marketing world.  My site has been around for almost 3 years now and I’ve been the target of a lot of these completely false reviews in the past.

Wealthy Affiliate Is The Worst For This

I hate to say it, because that site is a good start for internet marketers & I’ve got nothing bad to say about Kyle & Carson who are fellow Canadians, but their affiliates are the worst for this.  They’re actually trained to do fake reviews against any other site and even when they’ve never seen the inside of the site they’re trying to slam, they do it anyway.  Right on their front page it says “Wealthy Affiliate is Ranked the #1 Internet Marketing Training Program by over 499,000 Independent Website’s and Counting…”   Really?  Could the majority, in fact all of them, actually be affiliates of WA?  The answer is yes.  Also where does that number come from?  Is there some kind of survey results we could see to prove these numbers?  The answer to that is no way.  Real results don’t seem to matter online.  Marketers can and do get away with some of the shadiest methods that offline would be considered fraud and end up with the perpetrators in JAIL.  I could show several examples but I won’t as it would just add fuel to the perpetrators fire so I’m not going to bother.

How Do Those Sour Grapes Taste?

No, not sour grapes.  This  has been going on forever online and I just want to make affiliates and other potential members aware of it.  When you read the next “Real/Honest/Legit” review of anything online, look at the motivation of the review writer.  Do they want to honestly give you their opinion or do they just want to sell product A over product B because they are getting paid by product A to do so.  The funny part is if half those WA guys did their homework, they’d see that my affiliate program actually pays MORE then WA.

Conclusion

So why bother posting this?  Like I said I just want to make people aware of things.  The more information people have, the better a decision they can make.  The bottomline is don’t believe everything you read online as most of it pure crap written by people with hidden and not so hidden agendas.  Just to clarify, I know I used WA as an example, but they’re not the only ones doing this.  There are plenty of other sites out there that do the exact same thing.  In fact I’m sure some of my own affiliates are guilty of this, but are they just doing what the herd does too?
